Original recipe of the sicilian cassata: 
  

 

Ingredients: 

 

1 bread from spain gr. 500; 
 

 

gr. 400 ricotta; 
 

 

gr. 200 sugar to veil; 

 

gr. Candied fruit (orange, cedar, etc.). 
 

 

gr. 100 dark chocolate; 
 

 

rum; 
 

 

vanilla powder; 
 

 

gr. 200 sugar. 
 

 

Procedure: 

 

Place the ricotta in a saucepan and stir in sugar. Continue 
mix and add 200 g of candied fruit, cut into small pieces 
with chocolate and a little vanilla. 
Put the cake into a sponge cake, cut into thick slices and 
fill the central space with the mixture of ricotta. Cover with a disc 
of sponge cake and put it in the refrigerator for a few hours. 
With the sugar prepare the frosting, and when ready, spanditela
cassata on you sformato on a flat cakes. 
Trimmed cassata Sicilian with the rest of the candied fruit 
cut into pieces and serve.
